この記事を書いた人 琉球新報社 早朝、突然の衝撃が寝床に伝わり目を覚ました。風呂場の洗面台から何かが落ちて大きな音を立てた。「地震だ」。経験したことがない揺れに驚いた。だが、しばらくすると再び布団に潜り込んだ ▼１９９５年１月17日午前５時46分、阪神・淡路大震災が発生した。目覚めてテレビを付けると、先ほど感じた地震の被害を伝えていた。出勤で普段使う電車が止まったことも伝えていたが、それでもまだ人ごとのように感じていた ▼２時間ほど遅れて、バスで当時勤めていた職場に着くと、同僚がテレビを見ていた。「きょうは仕事にならないよ」。画面には倒壊した建物が映し出されていた ▼当時住んでいた岡山市の震度が４であったのをその後知った。最大震度は７。テレビが伝える犠牲者の数が１００人単位で増えていく。その時になって初めて寝直した自分の愚かさを思い知らされた ▼17日であれから30年。この間、東日本大震災や熊本地震があった。昨年は元日に能登半島地震が襲った。自然災害が起きた時には防災意識は高まるが、普段はどうか。あの日のような愚かさを繰り返すまい。自分を省みる。
