As far as the animal kingdom goes, nothing evokes care and preparation for raising young quite like the lengths birds go-to when building their nests.
Some birds, however, seem to take this to a whole new level, like this humming-bird Mom-to-be who found a very smart way to make her home much more cozier than what it would normally be.

Bianca Caroline Soares, a conservationist is no stranger when it comes to seeing hummingbird nests perched among the lofty jungle branches near her home in Paraguay.
One particular day though she came across a nest, quite unlike any nest she had ever seen before.

Far more care and attention to detail had gone into this nest, not to mention forward planning! This nest had what no other hummingbird nest had, this nest had a roof!
Bianca, it needs to be said was more than impressed! Thanks to the shade provided by this roof the young would be protected from the sun, and when it rained, they would dry. This nest was by far the best in the neighborhood.

In the weeks and months that followed that first sighting, Soares continued to visit the clever bird’s nest, observing the tiny family she’d built it for.
“She had two hummingbird babies,” Soares said.
And on the hottest days, those babies surely benefitted from their mother’s thoughtful planning.

Soares said she hopes the little mom’s thoughtful planning will inspire people to take better care of nature.
The hummingbird’s thoughtfulness certainly helped her own tiny family. In time, all her babies grew strong enough to set out on their own, perhaps taking a lesson from the design of their childhood home when it comes time to build their own nests:
