Crocus tubers can be planted virtually anyplace before the ground freezes in the fall, with the exception of the strong shadow on the north side of buildings and beneath thickets.

Crocus tubers should ideally be planted 6 to 8 weeks before to the anticipated fall hard frost and when the soil temperature is below 60°F (16°C).

This often occurs in the northern United States and Canada in September or October, and in the southern United States in October or November.

Crocus tubers should be buried 3 to 4 inches deep. (with the pointed end up). Water well after planting.
Instead of planting bulbs along a walkway or border in a row, bunch or cluster them together. In the landscape, lone flowers disappear.
