John Harbaugh: We won’t hold anything back due to potential playoff matchup with Texans

If the Ravens win the AFC North, they will likely be the third seed in the postseason tournament come January.

If they don’t, their likeliest landing spot as a wild card entry is the fifth seed and that would likely find them heading to Houston for their first playoff game. The Ravens are also facing the Texans on Christmas, which led to a question for Ravens head coach John Harbaugh on Monday.

Harbaugh was asked if the team will hold anything back in terms of their game plan in order to have it ready to go in a couple of weeks for a rematch. Harbaugh said schedule considerations are “not a priority” for his team as they head into Week 17.

“You try to win the game,” Harbaugh said, via the team’s website. “There’s plenty of things that we can come up with for the next game that would be the next iterations of whatever we’re doing. Everything we can think of that’s good, we’re going to try to do it.”

Winning the division is obviously the preferable outcome for Baltimore, so throwing everything out there on Wednesday in order to finish ahead of the Steelers is in their best interests. They’ve played all of the AFC teams that have already clinched playoff berths and they’ve also played the Chargers, Broncos and Bengals, so familiarity is all but guaranteed in any of their postseason matchups.
