Amen’s Lead Singer and Professional Skateboarder, Casey Chaos, Dead at 59

Throughout his time in the music industry, Casey Chaos showcased his love for genres like hardcore punk and death rock. Helping create the band Amen, Chaos showcased his talents on albums like Slave and Amen. But before the singer found his way to the stage, he explored a career as a professional skater. Never losing that love for music, he eventually found the spotlight. Sadly, on December 21st, news surfaced that Chaos passed away at just 59 years old.

The news of the singer’s passing was announced on the Amen’s Facebook page. Posting several pictures of the singer doing what he loved, the band wrote, “It is with great sadness, grief and sorrow that we confirm the passing of Casey Chaos after seeing the news currently being reported. As you can imagine, everyone in the band, past and present, are absolutely devastated.”

Wanting to focus on his contributions to the band, Amen wrote the band went through some tough times in recent years. “There was a lot going on with Amen in the past 5-6 years that we didn’t announce. Casey loved and appreciated your support, and always wanted to wait until things were complete, rather than sharing unfinished work-in-progress material.”

Again, not focusing on the bad times, Amen seemed to want nothing more than to remember the “genius” that was Chaos. “The rest of us are going to reflect on the ways we can honour Casey in the way he deserves; to have his genius, talent and heart celebrated and experienced by the world and the people who appreciated it.”

Asking fans to post their memories of Chaos in the comments, fans wrote, “Such sad news. My condolences. Such a nice humble guy to chat with, he showed passionate support for underground extreme music too. Godspeed Casey.” Another person added, “Casey was one of a kind. My fav memory was the barfly in Glasgow when casey crowd surfed over me and my mate. Then we got to speak to him and I told him his hair smelled good after the amazing hug he gave me. Gonna miss him. Thinking of the family and band.”
