Arkansas football sets school, Liberty Bowl records with 94-yard touchdown pass vs Texas Tech

MEMPHIS — The Arkansas football offense got off to a great start against Texas Tech in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl . The latest big Razorbacks play with 2:43 left in the first quarter Friday made history.

With the ball at Arkansas’ 6-yard line, Razorbacks junior quarterback Taylen Green cooly took a shotgun snap on third down. Green, standing in his own end zone, threaded a pass over a leaping TTU linebacker to redshirt freshman receiver Dazmin James running a quick slant from the left sideline.

James was full speed when he caught the ball. He crossed the field, raced down the right sideline and narrowly avoided Texas Tech safety CJ Baskerville diving at James’ feet.

The 94-yard touchdown catch is the longest passing play in Arkansas history. It is also an AutoZone Liberty Bowl record.

Arkansas (6-6) leads 21-12 early in the second quarter. The Razorbacks already have three plays that have gone for at least 50 yards. Texas Tech (8-4) has three plays of at least 40 yards.
