Buffalo Bills at New England Patriots, Week 18 second-half open thread

The Buffalo Bills trail the New England Patriots 14-10 at halftime in a game that’s featured a healthy amount of roster depth for both teams. At one point fairly late in the first half, neither offense had suffered an incompletion.

Several of Buffalo’s key starters found their way to a fruitful early exit, hitting the bench after barely breaking a sweat to claim contract bonuses or further personal, franchise, and/or NFL records.

Without doubt, the Bills have much bigger things to focus on than their Week 18 game against the Patriots, but the reserves have played decently overall. At stake is a franchise-record for wins in a season, where the magic number is 14. Also still on the table is finding that unique 14th receiver to catch a touchdown. Don’t believe for a second that they’ve forgotten about it.

To the delight of almost everyone in Bills Mafia, quarterback Josh Allen took just one snap to keep his consecutive-starts streak alive at 115 — and it was a handoff to keep him well out of harm’s way. Though it may do little to help his NFL MVP chances (unless you see Allen exiting early and doing so often throughout the season as a boon to his chances), keeping Allen on the sideline is the preferred move. What the Baltimore Ravens chose to do with quarterback Lamar Jackson and running back Derrick Henry up huge late is a huge risk, no matter what individual accolades are at stake.

Here’s your open thread for the rest of the Buffalo Bills’ season finale against the Patriots. As always, be kind to one another — and in all things… Go Bills!
