The duo of John Cena and Idris Elba are set to share the screen once again all thanks to the Hollywood director Ilya Naishuller. Soon fans will be able to see their favorite stars sharing the screen in Amazon Studios’ action-comedy ‘Heads of State’. 

In October 2020, Amazon Studios announced this project, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic,

the shooting didn’t begin. Following years, both Cena and Elba were working on several projects that once again slowed the pace of the movie. 

But last month, the crew started filming the movie in London. And soon it will be out for the fans to see. However, there is no confirmation on the release date of the movie yet. The movie is still in the initial stage of development and the crew is keeping most of the details secret.

If we talk about the plot of the movie then according to THR, the movie is a “90s style two-hander”. It could be compared to Dwayne Johnson’s “Hobbs and Shaw”. Apart from this, there is no other information revealed about the movie yet.

But one thing that is certain is fans will surely enjoy the on-screen chemistry between John Cena and Idris Elba after three years. The last time when these stars came together, the audience was glued to the screens.

In 2021, the fans saw Cena and Elba together on the screen for the last time. Both starred in the DC movie “The Suicide Squad”. The movie didn’t do well at the box office owing to the pandemic but Cena and Elba won everyone’s hearts with their phenomenal performances.

The ‘Cenation Leader’ played the role of Peacemaker in the movie. His role was all about a jingoistic killer whose sole goal is to achieve peace, by any means necessary, Elba played the character named Bloodsport who was a mercenary and can transform his suit into different weapons.

The movie cost around $185 million and earned $168.7 million worldwide. Critics and crew blamed the post-pandemic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Even though the film didn’t succeed financially, Cena and Elba’s characters got a special place in fans’ hearts.

Not only fans but the stars also liked working with each other. Idris Elba even shared his experience of sharing the set with the 16-time WWE world champion.

While talking to the Illuminerdi a few years ago, The Suicide Squad stars shared their experience. Elba said that he enjoyed working with Cena and James Gunn and enjoyed every minute of it.

“It was a really great experience to explore. If I’m honest, it was one of the things that developed. When you read the script, you sort of see the natural rivalry between John and I and James and the natural dynamics of the whole team…….. Peacemaker and Bloodsport really pop on screen. I loved every minute of it.”, said Elba.

The interview clears that not only the fans but the stars also loved working with each other. And it is clear that fans will see the same level of bromance in their upcoming movie as well.

And if we dive into John Cena’s WWE status, then the last time fans saw him at WrestleMania 39. He fought against the WWE United States champion Austin Theory and the match was below everyone’s expectations.

His in-ring return status is still a mystery. And it doesn’t seem like he will be around to entertain WWE Universe for a while. So, the fans have to wait a little more to see their favorite star inside the squared circle.
