Boston Celtics big man Kristaps Porziņgis left the team’s Christmas day game at halftime with an apparent ankle injury. He was ruled doubtful to return with what the team dubbed left ankle soreness.
Porzingis had recently missed time in December with pain in his right heel. This is the same leg that caused the big man to miss several weeks during the 2024 postseason with a calf injury. On Christmas Porzingis appears to have hurt his opposite leg. Porzingis did receive offseason surgery on his left foot over the summer, however. It’s unclear at this time if this new injury is at all tied to any previous injuries in anyway. The team has been taking a very patient and cautious approach with Porzingis and the possibility of any health concerns.
Boston hosted the rival Philadelphia 76ers for Christmas Day, the 38th time in franchise history the Celtics have played on the holiday.
