Ladd McConkey and the Los Angeles Chargers battled C.J. Stroud and the Houston Texans on Saturday night for a spot in the Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs.
McConkey, the former Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver, has been one of the biggest surprises from the 2024 NFL Draft. In 16 games, the rookie recorded 82 catches for 1,149 yards and seven touchdowns. He even led the team in receptions and receiving yards.
Before the game, McConkey’s fiancee, Sydney Horne, took to social media to leave a message for the wide receiver before his first playoff game.
“@ladd.mcconkey biggest fans,” Horne captioned her Instagram Story.

McConkey and Horne have been together since December 2017, spending over seven years with each other. Their relationship began when the two attended high school together at North Murray High School in Chatsworth, Georgia. It continued through McConkey’s four-year college career in Athens.
During McConkey’s two national championship wins with Georgia, Horne was a notable presence at the games, supporting her school and her man. She has been a big supporter during his rookie season as well. She even attended McConkey’s college decision announcement.
On July 6, 2024, the couple became engaged, and Horne revealed the news via a separate Instagram post.
“My person for life,” Horne wrote. “Here’s to the beginning of forever with my bestfriend! I love you so much❤️ 7.6.24.”
The Chargers finished the regular season on a three-game winning streak, ending with a record of 11-6 and the No. 5 seed in the AFC. They will look to make the Divisional Round for the first time since 2018.
