Jeremiah Smith found major success during his freshman season with the Ohio State Buckeyes and capped it off as a national champion.
On Monday night, Ohio State defeated the Notre Dame Fighting Irish 34-23 in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game.
Smith, the 6-foot-3, 215-pounder out of Miami Gardens, Florida, finished the night with five catches for 88 yards and one touchdown. He also had what many consider to be the game-sealing play.
With the Buckeyes up eight and just over two minutes to play, Ohio State faced a third-and-long situation. As Notre Dame brought a blitz, Smith was left one-on-one with his defender, burning him for a 56-yard catch. This allowed Ohio State to kick a field goal, making it a two-possession game and ultimately ending it.

On Sunday, a Notre Dame fan made a post about Smith that apparently caught the wide receiver’s attention.
“Jeremiah smith this, Jeremiah smith that” blah blah blah. Welcome to the no fly zone,” the fan wrote with a picture of the Notre Dame defense.
Sure enough, Smith kept the receipts, and after a stellar performance against the Irish, he responded.
“🤣🤣🤣🤣👎🏾,” Smith wrote on X.
Smith was one of the best wideouts in all of college football during the 2024 season. He totaled 76 catches for 1,315 yards and 15 touchdowns. He was even named a first-team All-American and the Big Ten Freshman of the Year.
Safe to say, Ohio State has a lot to look forward to with Smith in the future.
