The Bucket at the Halfway Mark

The game came to a conclusion and confetti fell. Ohio State, victorious over a West Coast opponent in the Rose Bowl.

This is normally where most seasons end. The Buckeyes handled their business in Pasadena and we all moved on to the next year. But this is no longer your Daddy’s college football. Hell. It’s barely the college football I remember and I’m only 40!

This is uncharted territory, something I feel like I’ve been saying a lot over the last few weeks. Congratulations to the Ohio State Buckeyes, champions of the Rose Bowl. Instead of riding off into the sunset that is the most gorgeous scene in all of college football as the sun drops behind the San Gabriel mountains, it’s a trip to Texas to play the Texas Longhorns in a college football semi-final.

Sounds like something out of a lunatic fringe fever dream. Instead, it’s the world we live in with college football these days.
