Zendaya and Tom Holland are reportedly headed down the aisle!
The actors, who met while playing love interests Peter Parker and MJ in the “Spider-Man” franchise, are engaged, according to reports from TMZ and People magazine.
USA TODAY has reached out to representatives for Holland and Zendaya for confirmation.
Rumors that the actors were an item circulated for years before their romance was confirmed in 2021, and reports of a future wedding picked up when Zendaya appeared at the Golden Globes wearing jewelry that looked suspiciously like an engagement ring.

2017: Tom Holland, Zendaya dating rumors hit as first ‘Spider-Man’ film premieres
Holland and Zendaya met while working on the Marvel movie “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” which hit theaters in July 2017.
Their characters were not love interests in the film, but it ended with the reveal that Zendaya’s Michelle is based on Mary Jane Watson, teasing that she would date Holland’s Peter Parker in a future movie.
The same month the film was released, People magazine reported that Zendaya are Holland were dating, with a source telling the outlet, “They started seeing each other while they were filming ‘Spider-Man.’ They’ve been super careful to keep it private and out of the public eye but they’ve gone on vacations with each other and try and spend as much time as possible with one another.”
But Holland and Zendaya dismissed the report on social media at the time.
“Wait wait… my favorite is when it says we go on vacations together HA! I haven’t been on a vacation in years!” Zendaya posted on X, formerly Twitter. “Does the press tour count,” Holland joked.
Zendaya later told Variety in August 2017 that she and Holland were not dating. “We are friends,” she said. “He’s a great dude. He’s literally one of my best friends.”
That September, Holland wished Zendaya a happy birthday on Instagram and referred to her as “mate.” In December, Us Weekly reported Holland had dinner with Zendaya and her parents, with a source saying, “They are still seeing each other, it’s been about a year.”
2019: Tom Holland again denies Zendaya relationship rumors
In July 2019, Holland and Zendaya’s second “Spider-Man” film, “Spider-Man: Far From Home,” hit theaters, and in this one, their characters become love interests.
But the two insisted they were still just friends in real life.
An Elle profile of Holland published in June 2019 reported that he is “not romantically involved with anyone,” but he said he’s “definitely a relationship person.”

2021: Tom Holland, Zendaya caught kissing in paparazzi photos
After years of the two denying their relationship, paparazzi photos published by Page Six in July 2021 showed them kissing in a car. “Zendaya, Tom Holland finally confirm they’re dating with steamy car makeout,” the headline read.
Two months later, Holland shared a photo of himself with Zendaya on Instagram and wrote, “My MJ, have the happiest of birthdays. Gimme a call when your up xxx.”
In an interview with GQ published that November, the actor said he and Zendaya “felt robbed of our privacy.”
“One of the downsides of our fame is that privacy isn’t really in our control anymore, and a moment that you think is between two people that love each other very much is now a moment that is shared with the entire world,” he said.
Holland added, “I’ve always been really adamant to keep my private life private, because I share so much of my life with the world anyway.”
Later that year, the couple posed at various “Spider-Man: No Way Home” premiere events. Holland told USA TODAY that Zendaya is “really instrumental in the sanity that I have right now and the fact that I have not lost my mind. It’s an interesting life.”
In an Instagram post in December 2021, Zendaya referred to Holland as “my Spider-Man.” Then, in a video for IMDb, Holland revealed he visited Zendaya on set “at least 30 times” while she was filming her HBO show “Euphoria.”

2022: Zendaya wishes happy birthday to Tom Holland, ‘who makes me the happiest’
In a romantic Instagram post in June 2022, Zendaya paid tribute to Holland for his birthday, writing, “Happiest of birthdays to the one who makes me the happiest <3.”
She also shared a black-and-white photo of them embracing. The post racked up more than 26 million likes on the platform.
2023: Tom Holland, Zendaya on keeping their relationship private
In a 2023 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Holland declined to get into detail about his relationship with Zendaya, telling the outlet, “Our relationship is something that we are incredibly protective of and we want to keep as sacred as possible. We don’t think that we owe it to anyone, it’s our thing, and it has nothing to do with our careers.”
Similarly, Zendaya told Elle, “Parts of my life, I accept, are going to be public. I can’t not be a person and live my life and love the person I love.”
“But also, I do have control over what I choose to share. It’s about protecting the peace and letting things be your own but also not being afraid to exist. You can’t hide. That’s not fun, either. I am navigating it more than ever now.”

In a Men’s Health profile published in January 2025, Holland said it is a conscious choice for him to avoid walking red carpets at premieres for Zendaya’s movies. “It’s not my moment, it’s her moment, and if we go together, it’s about us,” he said.
2025: Holland and Zendaya are reportedly engaged
On Jan. 5, 2025, Zendaya attended the Golden Globes wearing a ring on that finger, sparking speculation that she and Holland were engaged.
Hours later, reports from TMZ and People said the couple had gotten engaged, with TMZ reporting that Holland popped the question between Christmas and New Year’s.
The couple has not confirmed the engagement reports.
