Biggest Winner: Merab Dvalishvili
Many people were liking Nurmagomedov’s chances against Merab coming into the 135-pound title fight. And they looked to be right after the first two rounds. But, in the blink of an eye, Dvalishvili turned the tides and went into beast mode the final three rounds, landing one takedown after another and pressuring Nurmagomedov to the point of exhaustion. Indeed, the challenger looked winded after the third round, while Dvalishvili showed the reason he has been dubbed, “The Machine.” Not only did the champ retain his title and hand Nurmagomedov his first defeat, but he also passed George St-Pierre in the record books with the most takedowns in the promotion’s history (91). It was a masterful performance all around for the 135-pound champion.

Runner (s) Up: Islam Makhachev, Jiri Prochazka
No one expected Makhachev to lose against Moicano, a super late replacement; however, no one expected him to downright steamroll him that way, either. The 155-pound champion made quick work of the Brazilian bomber, forcing him to tap early in round one thanks to an air-constricting d’arce choke. With the win, Makhachev further added to his ever-growing legacy, surpassing Khabib Nurmagomedov with four consecutive title defenses.
And Makhachev is quickly making his case for the No. 1 Lightweight of all time.
As for Prochazaka, his stock grew immensely, knocking out “Sweet Dreams” in the third and final round of their Light Heavyweight bout (highlights). Prochazka has been the fan-favorite this week for shaving his head in solidarity with one of his biggest fans who is fighting cancer — whom he flew out to witness his fight cageside — but his fan-base skyrocketed further after finishing a man who has become Public Enemy No. 1 in the 205-pound division for being unable to accept his defeat to Alex Pereira. Now, Prochazka has once again inched closer to another title fight, and one more impressive win could get him back to the big dance.

Biggest Loser: Kevin Holland
Coming into the event, Holland earned our spot for the fighter who needed a win the most. And unfortunately for “Trailblazer,” he was unable to get back on track after getting submitted be Reinier de Ridder in the first round. For Holland, he has now lost two straight, four of his last five, and is just 3-6 in his last nine fights. While he is a decent fighter, it seems Holland has shown he simply doesn’t have what it takes to get over the hump and get into championship consideration. He is at a crossroads in his career, and he is going to have to take a long hard look at himself in the mirror to see what he needs to do to correct his woes because another loss would be disastrous for his UFC career.
