This is the UFC Tampa live blog for Colby Covington vs. Joaquin Buckley, the welterweight main event this Saturday in Tampa, Fla.

A former interim welterweight champion, Covington has fought for the undisputed title on three different occasions but fell short each time, including a loss to Leon Edwards one year ago. Turning 37 in a couple of months, time is running out for “Chaos” to earn true UFC gold, and his path back to a title shot starts on Saturday in Tampa.

Buckley began his UFC career in the middleweight division, making a name for himself with one of the greatest knockouts ever against Impa Kasanganay in 2020. However, 185 pounds ultimately proved too big of a weight class for him, so “New Mansa” dropped back to welterweight last year, where he’s been perfect since his return, rattling off five straight wins. A victory over Covington would be Buckley’s fourth of 2024, putting him on the shortlist for a welterweight title shot.
